Classic Car Rally – 19th May 2024

The Hampshire Medical Fund is thrilled to announce the resounding success of our Classic Car Rally held on Sunday, May 19th. This event, a journey through Hampshire’s picturesque countryside, brought together classic car enthusiasts to raise funds for crucial medical equipment.

The rally commenced at the historic Malshanger House in Basingstoke, with participants enjoying a scenic drive to Laverstoke Park, where they had the chance to rally around a dedicated track. The journey continued to the magnificent Somerley House in Ringwood, a renowned filming location for series such as Bridgerton and The Crown, where attendees enjoyed some lunch. The final leg of the rally led to Hazelby House in Newbury for afternoon tea and a private garden tour with the head gardener. 

This event was organised to raise money for Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) equipment, essential for the Twyford Stroke Ward at Royal Hampshire County Hospital. We are delighted to announce that, thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of our supporters, the event successfully raised enough funds to fully cover the cost of this equipment. The new FEES equipment will significantly enhance the care provided to stroke survivors in Hampshire, aiding in their recovery and improving their quality of life. The rally lucked out with incredible weather, as sunshine bathed the stunning classic cars and participants throughout the day.

Zoë, our Events Manager, says: “We are thrilled to announce the incredible success of our Classic Car Rally event, which has fully funded a piece of essential equipment for Winchester Hospital. Our amazing supporters, along with their stunning classic cars, gathered in the blissful sunshine on Sunday to raise these vital funds. This new equipment will transform the care in Hampshire for stroke survivors – we couldn’t do this without the support of our community.”

The event was supported by the Blood Runners, a registered charity that delivers blood products, urgent samples and medication from Hospital Pharmacies, who also raised over £1,000 in generous donations on the day.
